Yorkie Colors – Yorkshire Terrier Coat Colors
The Traditional Yorkie
Alot of people get this confused with the Standard Size. Standard Size refers to the larger size yorkie, where Traditional Refers to the traditional colour of the yorkshire terrier. They are commonly Steel Blue and Tan. The Steel Blue can vary in shade from a very dark steel blue to a very light silver and ash blonde.
Traditional Colour yorkies are all born black and tan, and then change colour as they get older. They will first start to Grey out on the head and later the body. Chocolate
The Chocolate Yorkshire Terrier carries a double gene for a red or brown coat. The gene will also often result in brown or liver pigmentation of the eye rims, nose and paw pads. Yorkies that have a double recessive gene for a brown coat are a lighter color at birth.

The Biewer Yorkie
Although the Biewer Terrier is actually a breed on its own and seperate from Yorkies, alot of people in South Africa refer to the Biewer Terrier as a Biewer Yorkie. The Biewer yorkie can either be tri colour ie White, Black and Tan, or just Black and White (KB Biewer)
